Not another wavetable synth
Looking for traditional Wavetable sounds? Get Vital. It's free, it's great, and it does exactly what you expect.
Ready for your own signature sound? Then welcome to KONTRAST!
Get results quickly by making creative decisions, instead of "programming".
It is a 2D representation of sound. Traditionally we view it as a 3D grid. In KONTRAST the wavetable is shown as a grayscale image instead.
Why?
And last, not least:
we can take images and use them as wavetable. Light reflections on my bathtube? Make a vintage pad. Your grandmas geometric wallpaper from the 70s? Sounds like an analog synth. The front
grill of your car? Maybe your next killer bass.
Find inspiration everywhere.
Traditional wavetable synthesis is limited to slice the audio with a straight line. KONTRAST breaks with this paradigm: your slicing line can have an arbitrary shape, and this changes everything, as the shape sonically interacts with the wavetable.
A round circle will give you a smooth scan, with a smooth sound. A jump or an edge in the shape will sound more like a sawtooth. Wobbly shapes produce wobbly sound. And ... well, I think you get the picture.
The shape is controlled in realtime with simple sliders. Each has its own timbral character, and the combinations are endless.

You know how to twist the cutoff dial of an analog filter?
Great! Then you are ready.
With Kontrast, you don’t program sounds – you discover them. You don't ask "is this correct", you ask "does it sound interesting?"
In the words of Bedrooms Producer Blog:
"You may not always know where you’re headed ... but you’re likely to land somewhere sonically interesting."
